Spaciousness Feels Good

What happens for you when you read the word spaciousness?

Is it a trusted companion? A faraway dream? An abstract concept?

Can you picture it? Can you feel it? What do you think of it?

Spaciousness occupies a priority placement on my list of values. It is a filter I run decisions through. Do I have enough space in this proposal? Do I have enough space around this proposition? It hasn’t always been this way; it is a practice I’ve cultivated over years, and I recall the discomfort I felt initially at allowing myself more space to be, to germinate, process, and ultimately create. Confronting the pressure to be constantly in motion, to be busy, to be visually productive can offer tough-to-face challenges.

What I’ve experienced in creating more space for myself is the ever-emerging presence of what I consider my essential self: the me who isn’t wholly shaped by my conditioning. The me before the world began plastering its expectations onto my body. I have found that when I am in connection with my essential self, I am able to enjoy my life more because there is more alignment and less friction in everything I choose to do. I find myself engaging in more life activities that feel good. And contrary to many messages I’ve received, I now know feeling good is a great way to know if I’m on the right track.
